Scope of this Policy
This Policy applies when you visit ViewWing, create or use an account, upload or watch videos, interact with creators or other users, submit a report, contact us, or otherwise use the service.
Third-party websites and services have their own privacy practices. Their policies apply when you use them directly, even if ViewWing links to or relies on those services.
Personal data we collect
Account and profile information
When you create or use an account, ViewWing may process your email address, Firebase user identifier, display name, profile picture, biography, sign-in provider, account role, verification status, account dates, and authentication and security information.
If you sign in with Google, ViewWing receives the account information Google makes available for that sign-in, such as your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile picture. ViewWing does not receive your Google password.
Content and interactions
We process videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, original file information, technical media metadata, visibility choices, comments, replies, reactions, follows, saved videos, Watch Later selections, and the dates and identifiers connected with those actions.
Reports and moderation records
When users report content or accounts, or when ViewWing takes moderation action, we may process reporter and target identifiers, reasons, descriptions, moderator notes, warnings, acknowledgements, restriction or ban details, appeals, decisions, and related timestamps. Private moderator notes are not displayed publicly.
Usage and technical information
ViewWing and its service providers may process page and feature activity, video views, watch duration, watched and replayed portions of a video, timestamps, browser and device information, language, approximate location, referral information, network information, IP address, error information, and security events.
Communications
If you contact ViewWing, we process your email address, message, attachments, and any other information you choose to provide so that we can respond and maintain a record of the request where necessary.
Information visible to other people
Depending on your settings and actions, your display name, profile picture, biography, public videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, comments, replies, reaction counts, follower information, and associated dates may be visible to anyone, including people who do not have a ViewWing account.
Unlisted content may be accessible to anyone who has its link. Private videos, saved videos, Watch Later selections, account email addresses, and private moderation records are not intended to be public. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in content you make public.
Cookies, local storage, and analytics
Authentication and service storage
Firebase and ViewWing may use browser storage or similar technology to maintain authentication, remember session state, preserve security and access information, and provide requested features.
ViewWing audience-measurement cookie
For signed-out viewers, ViewWing may set an HttpOnly,
SameSite=Lax cookie named vw_viewer. It
contains a randomly generated pseudonymous identifier,
not your name or email address, and may remain for up
to one year. It is used to distinguish viewers, avoid
repeatedly counting the same view, and produce video
watch and audience analytics. Signed-in viewing
activity may instead be associated with your ViewWing
user identifier.
Google Analytics
ViewWing uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand visits and use of the service. When active, it may process first-party identifiers, page and event activity, browser and device information, referral information, and approximate geographic information. Google states that Analytics does not log or store individual IP addresses for users in the European Union, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
ViewWing does not currently display personalised advertising and does not use Analytics information to sell your personal data. Where applicable law requires consent for analytics or similar technologies, consent is the legal basis for that processing and must be obtainable and withdrawable through an appropriate privacy control.

How and why we use personal data
ViewWing uses personal data to:
- create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide the features requested by users;
- host, process, review, publish, deliver, and remove videos and other user content;
- enable comments, replies, reactions, follows, libraries, Watch Later, and creator analytics;
- count views, measure performance and audience engagement, diagnose errors, and improve ViewWing;
- review reports, enforce the Terms and Community Guidelines, protect users, and handle appeals;
- detect spam, fraud, abuse, account compromise, technical attacks, and attempts to evade restrictions;
- communicate about accounts, security, moderation, support requests, and important service changes; and
- comply with legal duties and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Legal bases
Depending on the activity, ViewWing relies on one or more of the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Contract: processing necessary to provide ViewWing under the Terms of Service;
- Legitimate interests: operating, securing, moderating, measuring, and improving the service, protecting users, preventing abuse, and defending legal claims, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
- Consent: processing that requires your permission, including non-essential analytics technologies where applicable; and
- Legal obligation: processing necessary to comply with applicable law.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
International data transfers
ViewWing’s providers may process information in the European Economic Area, the United States, and other countries. Those countries may have data-protection rules different from those where you live.
Where required, international transfers are made using a lawful transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or another safeguard permitted by applicable law.
How long data is kept
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the service, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations.
- Account and profile data is generally kept while the account remains active.
- User content is generally kept until it is deleted by the user or removed by ViewWing, subject to temporary backups and necessary legal records.
- Reports, warnings, bans, appeals, and security records may be retained after related content or an account is deleted when reasonably necessary to prevent abuse, document decisions, handle disputes, or comply with law.
-
The
vw_viewercookie may remain on a device for up to one year unless it is deleted sooner. - Analytics and provider-held information is retained according to ViewWing’s configured settings and the applicable provider terms.
Retention periods may be shortened or extended where required by law, necessary for an active dispute or security investigation, or technically required for backup deletion cycles. Where practical, information may instead be aggregated or anonymised.
Data security
ViewWing uses reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data, including access controls, authentication, role-based moderation permissions, restricted database rules, and secure service-provider connections where available.
No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You should use a strong, unique password, protect access to your email and Google account, and promptly report suspected unauthorised access.

Where a change materially affects your rights or how personal data is used, reasonable additional notice will be provided when required.
